Steven F. Sholes, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral scholar at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory working with Dr. Kathryn Morgan Stack and the Mars2020 rover team. Recent PhD graduate from the University of Washington with Prof. David Catling. My interdisciplinary research focuses on understanding the habitability of past and present Mars by both examining the surface geology and modeling its atmosphere.

I am particularly interested in understanding the distribution, magnitude, and timing of liquid water on ancient Mars. Did Mars ever have oceans? Could Mars have oceans? How much liquid water was available on Mars and when?
